Music Supervision Services
Brought to you by Music Supervisor, Alana Kinard.
What is a music supervisor?
A music supervisor is the head of the music department on a film or television show, and they select and license music for the production. A music supervisor chooses existing music or secures artists to write new songs or cover old ones, all while navigating intellectual-property laws and working with the rights-holders on licensing the music.
Music supervisors are the "gatekeepers" to synch licenses, which can add hundreds or thousands of dollars to an artist’s annual earnings. Synch licensing placements are an increasingly important revenue stream for bands, singer-songwriters, producers, beat-makers, indie publishers, indie labels and recording studios, no matter the musical genre.
